2. The data we collect

Depending on how you use Pacer Build, we may collect:

• Account data - name, email address, phone number, password (stored only in hashed form), and role (worker or contractor).
• Worker profile data - trade and skills, work location and travel radius, availability, and work history you choose to add.
• Verification data - identity and right-to-work information, and trade certifications, which our administrators review to confirm you are compliant and deployable.
• Contractor data - company name, contact details, and the labour requests you post.
• Usage data - how you interact with the platform, device and browser information, and approximate location derived from your IP address.

Right-to-work and identity information is special-category-adjacent and sensitive. We collect only what we need to operate verification, and handle it with heightened care.

3. How we use your data and our lawful bases

• To provide the service (create your profile, run the matching engine, connect contractors and workers) - lawful basis: performance of a contract.
• To verify workers (confirm identity, right to work, and certifications) - lawful basis: legal obligation and legitimate interests in a compliant workforce.
• To improve and secure the platform - lawful basis: legitimate interests.
• To communicate with you about your account and service updates - lawful basis: performance of a contract and legitimate interests.
• For marketing, only where you have opted in - lawful basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

4. How verification and matching share your data

When a worker is matched to a contractor's request, the contractor sees the relevant parts of that worker's verified profile (such as trade, skills, general location, availability and verification status) so they can make a hiring decision. Contractors do not receive your raw identity documents. Administrators access verification data only to confirm compliance.

5. Who we share data with

We share personal data only with:

• Service providers who process data on our behalf, under contracts that require them to protect it. These currently include Vercel (application hosting), Neon (database hosting), Cloudflare (DNS, security and content delivery), Stripe (payment processing) and Resend (transactional email delivery).
• Professional advisers, regulators or authorities where we are legally required to do so.

We do not sell your personal data. The service providers listed above act only on our documented instructions.

6. International transfers

Where any provider processes data outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement, so your data receives equivalent protection.

7. How long we keep it

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law. Account and profile data is retained while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward; verification records are kept in line with employment and compliance requirements. In practice, we keep verification records (such as identity and right-to-work information) for the duration of your account and for up to two years after it is closed, then securely delete them, unless a longer period is required by law.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• have inaccurate data corrected;
• request erasure of your data in certain circumstances;
• restrict or object to certain processing;
• request portability of data you provided to us;
• withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.

9. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords and access controls that limit who can view sensitive verification data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and will notify you and the ICO of a qualifying breach as required by law.

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the platform. Where we use any non-essential or analytics cookies, we will ask for your consent first. If we add non-essential or analytics cookies in future, we will update this section and our consent controls accordingly.

Pacer Build is intended for people aged 18 or over who have the right to work in the United Kingdom. It is not directed at children.
